We have been waiting on this one patiently. It is finally here, and showing beautifully. It opens slowly to reveal a depth of fruit and spice; black cherry, cassis, red plumb, red currant, and caramel. The palate is soft, and tense at the same time, delivering red cherry, blackberry, allspice, green tobacco, and dark chocolate. The tannins are firm and nicely integrated, and carry the fruit through the palate. This is a proper Cabernet Franc, possessing all of the balance of fruits and savory details that we love in this varietal.
The “Alban” clone Grenache grown at Roblar Estate Vineyard’s ideal combination of light rocky soil and moderate climate, makes a wine of exceptionally deep color and rich structure. A small amount of Syrah was added to further accentuate the lush fruit character of this wine.
50% Syrah, 33% Grenache, 17% Mourvèdre. Stunning clarity and color jump from this wine. Bright red berries, tobacco and baking spices make this wine very attractive. It is expressive right out of the bottle, and opens quickly to include some blackberry, and leather. The palate is plush with strawberries, raspberries, white peppercorn, vanilla and black cherry. This is a very vibrant and fresh wine. Such a strong and clear voice of pure fruit. Truly surprising and delicious after only 9 months in bottle.
Varietal: 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, and 69% Syrah
This wine is dark and inviting. It bears the interplay of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah very well, showing black fruits, blueberry, green herbs, and charcoal. The palate is very finely textured and expands nicely from sweet dark berries to broad red plum, blueberry jam, vanilla and baking spices. This wine is very satisfying and despite its youth, opens quickly to provide immediate pleasure. It will also benefit from a decant, or a couple years in the cellar.
This wine is inky and alluring. The glass brims with dark bramble fruits and exotic spices. There is a rich undertone of umami and chocolate, balanced by a bright and lifted black raspberry and balsamic reduction. The palate layers in dark plum, dried fig, cocoa powder, black cherry and allspice. Overall, this wine is deep and mysterious, requiring a moment of thought and appreciation for things of density and character. Built on tannic structure, this wine will benefit from cellaring, and will need air and time to show fully.
This wine is heady, intensely aromatic and expressive. The aromas jump from the glass showing off flashes of raspberry, pomegranate and black bramble fruits. The nose is spiced with hints of cedar and loam, touches of clove and white pepper. It floods the palate with sweet red and black berries, it is broad and focused and seamlessly transitions from fruit, to tension and darkness, with a firm and satisfying touch of tannin and structure to finish. Overall a really classy and intense pinot, possessing great fruit and wonderful balance.
This is a barrel selection of many varietals, all aimed at producing a very finely textured and fruit forward blend. At the heart of this blend is Sangiovese and Grenache, with splashes of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah for darkness and substance.
The Cabernet and Sangiovese really shine through in the aromatics of this wine. It shows off dark cherry liquor, red currant, cassis, dried strawberry and a touch of vanilla. On the palate the wine is very soft and sweet, full of red fruits, a touch of blackberry jam and baking spices. It finishes with red plum, strawberry and vanilla bean.
